FIRST STEPS FORWARD
Well, here it is. My own website is finally ready - almost, at least. A few things are still missing, but they're coming.
I've been thinking about building a website for a long time now. A few times I already had a website almost ready, but never to the point where I would launch them publicly. But as you can see, now I have, and I'm proud of how it turned out.
For me, this site is a tool to get my work out into the world. For months, I've been thinking that yes, I post my images to my Instagram account to show them, but that's not enough. The same goes for other social media platforms - I'm hiding. Few people know what I do for a living, but when I hear comments like "I forgot what you do" and "this was a reminder that you also exist," I know something has gone wrong in a way. So now I want to change that and stop hiding.
But these steps forward aren't just focused on business or overall work stuff. They are also steps forward as a person. Deep down, I always doubt myself and what I do. Many people can relate to this sentence: I'm not good enough. And that's not easy to get out of your head. So with that in mind, this is a huge step for me to take - putting this site public and showing my work to all who want to see it.
But now back to this site and what it holds for now and what's still coming (at least what I can tell right now). On this site, you can find my Portfolio where my work will be. At the moment, it contains a photography page at the moment and the visual design projects are coming soon.
Then there is the Sports Photo Gallery. It holds the sports photos that I have taken. These images are available to use, but only with permission. For more information on how and who can use the sports photos, read: Image Usage Rights.
I have also created my own brand, and that has its own page. From there, you can download my Brand Book and my logos to see what my brand holds.
Then there is the Contact page, as well as my social media links. As a freelancer, I can be hired, and from there you can do that.
And then there is this: My site is in English. Why? Well, to put it simply, there are two main reasons. Firstly, I already work with people who can't read Finnish, so I want as many people as possible to be able to use this site. Secondly, it's just my own preference to do this in English. Maybe someday I will make this site in both Finnish and English.
Lastly, what is this blog where I'm writing this? Well, here I will write about stuff. I don't have a specific subject to focus on.
If you've read this far, I want to thank you. It means a lot to me that somebody is interested in what I do and write, so thanks!Towards the next steps on the way to my goals
